@RHW another election and another Liberal leader who swears to never set foot in the lodge. So like John Howard he will waste millions flying to and from Canberra every night with an enormous crowd of public servants and police.
He could instead vow to build the actual Prime Ministers residence by the lake as it was intended 70 years ago. The lodge can then go back to being the treasurers house. #auspol
@Old_IT_geek I don't think we need waste public money on a house for the Treasurer.
The Lodge was extensively re-furbished, under the eagle eye of the interfering Ms Peta Credlin, for Abbott, who preferred living in the Police College before moving to Kirribilli. It is perfectly suited to a PM , but remember the GG has a lovely residence by the Lake and that will hopefully become vacant one day.
Although Republicans might be thinking twice lately about having a President who decides he wants to be a King.
@RHW There is a very nice block by the lake for the Prime ministers residence. We should complete the Griffins plan and build the permanent lodge.
The GG’s house was another existing building that was taken over and repurposed. It’s had some hideous modifications.
Let’s be proud of our country and build new residences.

I don’t mind Kirribilli being used instead of a hotel for overnight/short stays by PM, senior pollies & dignitaries when required to stay in Sydney, but it shouldn’t be viewed as a second prime ministerial residence. Why should the PM get harbour views from a Sydney residence, when their job is in Canberra? Makes no sense.

Yep he is the guy who wants to sack 41,000 public servants cut the NDIS, gut Medicare and dismantle Centrelink to save money but won’t live in the government housing 200m from the office.
Instead he wants the harbour views, maids, chefs and private jet to fly him 600 klm on the world’s most expensive daily commute.
That will help with the cost of living.
