@Techmeme I remember about 10 years ago using Twitter’s API for a client’s website to basically make a custom themed widget on their home page showing their latest tweet.
I can’t imagine they would have wanted us to bother if they would have had to pay for API access. The widget’s entire purpose was to drive traffic to Twitter.
Any word on whether this would affect embedded tweets?

MS have made many mistakes over time but they were the first to realise mass adoption comes from making devs welcome. It’s the ecosystem that makes you successful.

@Techmeme I had a small handful of automated Twitter things still running even after I stopped using the site personally. Guess those will all stop working. No big loss. I was going to switch them all to Mastodon anyway. Just hadn’t gotten the chance yet.
