The point of their desire to privatize the USPS is to liquidate USPS' wildly overfunded pension. By congressional order, USPS was pre-funding the pension plan to rediculous levels, even funding it for people who have not been born yet. There's $40 billion in there that could disappear into private equity, and you can buy an awful lot of congresscritter for just 1% of that amount.

I'm not sure what your point is. Fedex and UPS already do deliver packages and offer retail package delivery services. USPS priority mail is a copy of a service Fedex pioneered, affordable fast, tracked, insured delivery. Fedex and UPS often use USPS for final day's delivery.

If they're chasing nickle/dime ongoing bribery/campaign donations for government contracts, that's very thin gruel compared with the liquidating the pension plan excess. And you think fedex/ups don't already have contracts the US gov? Eyes on the prize, and it ain't small-time squeezing of UPS/fedex.
Also, fedex/UPS have zero interest in getting into the first class mail business at $0.73 a pop. They won't even bother to laugh at you for 73 cents, and they love that taxpayer subsidy they use to when they turn to USPS to deliver to east nowhere, ruralsville. Why would they take on that money-loser?
