Did you know that Biden signed 65 pieces of legislation into law this week? If you didn’t, it’s worth asking why the media you listen to didn’t tell you that.

@dhstokyo

Oddly the same thing seems to happen here, Once laws ahve passed throigh due process in the Commons and Lords, they are passed to the Monarch who signs them. (part of the role of a constitutional monarch)

This seems to be done behind closed doors though.

@zleap Seems like a disservice to the citizens, no?

@dhstokyo
Yep. Here’s a perfect example … protections for pregnant women on the workplace. Seems like something cable news could be digging into other than nonstop stranded travelers at the airport stories.

@inklings Exactly! These laws affect millions of people. Media should tell people!

@dhstokyo Dems need to invest in a partisan mouthpiece like Republicans. I don't get why this is impossible.

We won’t see a week with 65 pieces of legislation signed into law next year when the GOP is running the House.

@dhstokyo I got writer's cramp just looking at that stack.

@david @dhstokyo your response imo is one of the best examples I read of respectful critical feedback that seems to thrive on the #Fediverse and seems to be suppressed at centralized for profit networks. Thanks, it went down well 🙏

@dhstokyo That’s a nice pose. I’m prepping a scene in #POSERS where Inmate Trump is surrounded by piles of stolen classified documents for sale in his Presidential Library. 😎

@dhstokyo Great question. Do people want to know? Would they watch the network explaining it? Maybe it should be what is offered and get people to return to caring about the actual governing instead of all the gossip.

@dhstokyo And it would be nice to know what these 65 laws are.

@lmertz @dhstokyo it's public information, so you're in luck 🐱

@iwein @dhstokyo - point being news reporters ought to report that Pres signed these bills and also what they are. Agreeing that nowadays news is lacking hugely.

@lmertz @dhstokyo fair point, got it 👌 also would be soooo nice if all headlines, summaries, etc had the essential facts instead of the juiciest outrage. "You can look it up" seems rather moronic in retrospect, sorry for the careless reply there 🫣

@lmertz @iwein Hey Lisa, this morning I saw that the LA Times reported on the bills that became law in CA this year — made me think of our exchange here.

Wouldn’t it be great if every state did that every year?

@dhstokyo I'm so mad that the book I've been reading didn't inform me of this

@dhstokyo it's over 50% renaming post offices. A few changes around the edges of existing policy. One minor change to human trafficking laws.

Seems disingenuous to call it important or especially news worthy.
