I'm going for it. This will be my first thru-hike!
The Oregon Coast Trail, a 400+ mile path that runs along Oregon's entire coastline.
Life is too short, the years zip by too quickly, not to chase adventure and the beauty of nature whenever possible. In less than a month, I'll be on that trail.
@killyourfm How much does the gear, water and food weight you have to carry along?
@nowherefast It'll probably be a bit lighter than my Yosemite backpacking trip from last year. I'm guessing 35 to 38 pounds with a full load.
@killyourfm Sound like quite a burden. I will stuff some books into my backpack to see how that feels. 
My brother in law went the PCT a few years ago but capitulated before reaching his goal, although he is in really good shape.
@nowherefast The PCT is like the Olympics of thru-hiking! That's where i think I'll END, not begin.
@killyourfm Lol that was his first big hiking tour after some multiday hiking tours here in Germany. Took a 6 month sabattical for the PCT and was pretty depressed having to end it early.
