Back in May, 2023, Gruber on Bluesky.

@gruber
Bluesky is going to skyrocket to mainstream popularity and actually replace Twitter, and Mastodon cannot, because Bluesky is being designed to be simple, fun, and — most importantly — easy to understand.

@numericcitizen I’m looking wrong on that prediction. Mainly, I think, because Threads dropped from Meta in July 2023 and took a lot of the air out of Bluesky’s balloon. Personally my Bluesky usage has dropped off a cliff. I seem to only have time to stay fully involved in two social networks at a time, and those two are Mastodon and Threads.
@numericcitizen Not one thing has changed about Bluesky to make me like it less but it just never gets my time. I still check in periodically, and same with X, but it’s too much to stay atop more than two of these feeds. And frankly even two might one too many.
I really miss when Twitter was the One True Text Social Network.
@gruber I’m mostly cross-posting from Micro.blog to Bluesky and Mastodon… so my focus is on Micro.blog… checking the other two from time to time. Skipping Threads for now cause… Meta… and dependency on Instagram.
