@provuejim it would be so much simpler to take a few floppy disks home.

@provuejim In fairness to the author it would be 15-20 years before laptops became fast, cheap, and portable enough that they became a mass market thing. And although laptop ownership grew in the 90s, it would still be several years after this article was written that we’d start to see laptops actually adopt the form factor we would recognize as a laptop and not a luggable.
The author doesn’t seem to dismiss laptops as a dead end, just that they weren’t ready for prime time, and that’s fair!
