A global system of #SpaceTraffic management was defined by the International Academy of #Astronautics in its 2006 study as a "set of technical and regulatory provisions for promoting safe access into outer space, operations in #OuterSpace, and return from outer space to #Earth free from physical or radiofrequency interference."
There remains a spectrum of views internationally regarding the feasibility and advisability of an actual international #SpaceTraffic management organization (#ISTMO) https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_briefs/RBA1949-1.html

@spaceflight you think take FCC DoD Commerce maybe NASA forever to come up with common guidelines and enforcement
maybe @planet4589 'orbital cop' of that legendary burn on X can sort it out!
@Powerfromspace1 could you express this a bit more precise ? The FCC doesn't do any "commerce", they simply don't know what they're doing (to the rest of the world). They are purely administrators (which includes they don't have to achieve anything)
@spaceflight Exactly no one is in charge and FCC shouldn't be involved but is https://www.fcc.gov/about-fcc/what-we-do#:~:text=About%20the%20FCC,-About%20the%20FCC&text=The%20Federal%20Communications%20Commission%20regulates,of%20Columbia%20and%20U.S.%20territories.
Then there is the UN https://spacenews.com/u-n-opens-window-of-opportunity-to-improve-space-governance/
In total it's non hot mess resulting in no clear sets of rules that will end in Kessler Syndrome that traps
humanity ( https://www.space.com/kessler-syndrome-space-debris#:~:text=The%20Kessler%20Syndrome%20is%20a,satellites%2C%20astronauts%20and%20mission%20planners.)
