Trevor James Smith
This is way too funny. It's also one of the reasons I keep NoScript running on my main web browser.

https://userinyerface.com

Trevor James Smith
Well then. Time to update some protocols.

https://tuta.com/blog/china-salt-typhoon-worst-us-hack

Trevor James Smith
Fair criticisms here. I've certainly abused ZeroVer in a few of the projects I maintain, but I also never know when to leave it either, so some projects have been in production for years and very stable despite that. Perhaps I need to push past that behaviour.

https://hynek.me/articles/semver-will-not-save-you/

Trevor James Smith
I would love to see more of this approach in America. They could very easily have a positive impact on food desert issues in small communities (in the short term).

7-Eleven Is Reinventing Its $17B Food Business to Be More Japanese | WSJ The Economics Of
https://piped.video/watch?v=RATHbP1bAhI

Trevor James Smith
Just upgraded my T430 to KDE Plasma 6 with Wayland on Void Linux. Smooth UI. Monitor-independent scaling. Runs really well. Now I just wish the widgets I like get ported.

Trevor James Smith
Just got back from my first European excursion to Lithuania, The Netherlands, and Belgium. Met lots of people, ate lots of strange and delicious things, saw many castles. I'm exhausted, but I have stories for quite some time. I managed to log a good chunk of it, so I'll be adding this to a personal blog, I think. Will be starting something up soon.

Trevor James Smith
The security saga continues: I decided to try out a new (to me) VPN service. I've already configured a few devices to use it once I buy some credit for it. I previously used NordVPN (their YouTube promoter game is strong), but after reading more about VPNs, I figured I needed something new.

Also, from time to time I use a Windows machine and decided to clean it up and install my stack of Open Source stuff on it on it. Discovered https://privacy.sexy for running scripts generated for Windows, Linux, and macOS that can do things like removing bloatware and disabling/uninstalling annoying proprietary services and features. I've noticed my boot time has been cut in half, and I no longer have random scripts running on login. Awesome project!

Trevor James Smith
Also, I've been building personal NAS using a Raspberry Pi, two 4TB Barracuda HDDs, and OpenMediaVault. Results have been interesting. Also worth talking about once it's fully configured.

Trevor James Smith
DeGoogling continued: Finally wiped my Twitter account as well as 90℅ of my accounts associated with my first email (circa 2003-2011). I've been cleaning up my digital footprint for around two months now, moving things to more secure services, and I'm finally starting to see progress.

The next phase is to archive my email accounts and get something more secure (mailbox.org?). Still planning to chronicle this as an extensive blog post once I'm done.

Trevor James Smith
Rest in peace, Mr. Toriyama
