Experience the Hamburg node at the WCRP Global KM-Scale Hackathon 2025
In May, over 600 scientists and researchers joined forces across 10 global locations to take part in the first-ever global climate modelling #hackathon, organized by the World Climate Research Programme and supported by initiatives like WarmWorld, EERIE I European Eddy-Rich Earth System Models, Destination Earth, ESMO, and #nextGEMS.
One of the largest nodes was hosted by the @MPI_Meteo in Hamburg
, where more than 120 participants from around the world came together. They spent a week collaborating with local science teams, exploring cutting-edge research, and working with data from the latest
#ICON and #IFS–FESOM model runs.
From Europe to Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Americas, this was a truly global effort to advance kilometer-scale #ClimateModelling.
Curious to see what it was like? We’ve captured the energy and collaboration of the Hamburg node in a short video. Come take a look!
