One of the first rules of #INlegis is that you never publicly declare victory about *anything* until sine die and I feel like a lot of folks have forgotten that.

Got a selfie with the hardest working advocacy team at the statehouse! ICV crew in effect - they are my favs. #INLegis #HoosierMast
HB1041 passed and while we heard some good fight out of some Dems, far too many turned coward and joined forces with MAGA to vote for this online conspiracy-theorist's fever-dream.
It doesn't make me feel better that they are just following the nationwide trend of throwing #trans people under the bus.
I can only hope they can find the spine to stand with us when MAGA comes back for adult medical care and our IDs.
I'm not confident.
Every year or so someone reasonably serious asks me if I'd be willing to run for some office or the other and I always say the same thing: "No fucking way."
I like my continued freedom to be a little out-of-pocket in public, even if that's been reduced somewhat. Kiss that goodbye if you're an elected.
Plus the #INLegis already pretty much destroys my ability to think and feel normal feelings for 3-4 months per year -- I can't imagine extending that into a full year campaigning, etc.
Come and join me at the Indiana State House and help save student voter ID! TODAY at 1pm.
I'll be on hand with other experienced democracy advocates to help connect students with their lawmakers!

Hey #HoosierMast
Are you a student who votes? Did you know that #Hoosier lawmakers are trying to restrict students from using their school ID to vote?
Want to act?
A bunch of my #Indiana #democracy partners are hosting a Student Lobby Day on April 1st. Join us, and tell lawmakers in-person why student voter ID is important.

Thanks, @ipbnews, for covering Indiana Third House meetings!
"They're a very easy way for constituents to meet and start a relationship with their lawmaker. And there's just not a lot of opportunities like that anywhere else," [political strategist Kit Malone] said.
Another day in the lobby outside the #Indiana Senate chamber for a hearing on the latest anti-#trans scaremonger. I've been here often enough that I probably owe them rent.
I've done my best to prep my clients and their partners to testify effectively. I've greeted them, and made sure they know how important it is that they are willing to stand up for what is right, even when it's hard.
I love that I get to help organizations who share that value with me. My job rules.

HB1041 is being heard tomorrow! This dangerous bill is yet another attempt to abuse women's sports to attack families who are just trying to survive in #Indiana.
Tell them to stop scapegoating #trans people. It's putting us in danger in our communities. You don't have to be a super-ally to know this leads someplace dark.
We've made it easy to take action. Click below. GO DO IT.
Back at the Indiana statehouse today, prepping a client to testify on a really horrible anti-voter bill. #StopSB10
It's good to be back in action and with a successful independent practice under my belt. Nobody can keep me out of the fight, and as my own boss I get to choose clients based on my values and interests. What a privilege.
"Governor Braun, we don’t need or want that kind of protection.”
Women's groups call Braun's executive orders morally wrong and irresponsible:
Incredible news!
Planned Parenthood, LWV of Indiana, and
numerous other groups who represent Hoosier women signed a public letter condemning Governor Mike Braun's recent orders attacking transgender people and calling out his bogus, cynical "protecting women" framing.
Thank you to all of the incredible women who lead these organizations for standing up for transgender Hoosiers and for sending me a copy!
Anti-trans Executive Order from Gov. Braun dropping at 2pm.
@Bikevisionary @ipbnews p accurate picture of #inlegis tbh
I'm begging you to check to see if a bill has actually died before posting a hair-on-fire "alert" about it.
There are terrifying bills still moving this session that we need people to concentrate on.
Just because you can do a search on IGA.in.gov doesn't mean you know how to track bills.

"I never thought leopards would eat MY face!" sobs Ellettsville Town Council.
“These other places that are sitting there saying it’s impossible and the sky’s falling, well, the laws are directed towards people like that, not us,” Ellis said.
Hey there #HoosierSocial-ites! My pal and IPB editor extraordinaire Lauren Chapman just bridged her bluesky account to the fediverse!
I follow her avidly, and love her coverage of LGBTQ developments here in Indiana.

In their latest middle finger to Hoosiers, the legislature considers jacking up predatory loan interest rates
House Bill 1174 seeks to create new, longer-term loans of up to $5,000 — but with monthly service fees of up to $200 per month, which could be charged every month for the life of the loan (and) allow lenders overseeing larger borrowing — like car loans — to charge interest rates as high as 36%, up from the current cap of 25%.
