Disastrous storms swept across the Midwest this past week, bringing heavy rainfall ranging from 2 to 18+ inches that reduced the extent and intensity of drought. The highest rainfall totals were recorded in western Kentucky. The storms caused power outages, damaging winds and tornadoes. At least 24 people have died since last week as a result of this severe weather outbreak.
