Greater #Manchester has secured £2.5bn in government funding to deliver the UK’s first fully integrated, zero-emission public #transport system by 2030. The investment will expand the Bee Network, creating an all-electric system with 1,000 EV buses, trams powered by renewable energy, and e-bikes. Local rail lines will be integrated, making Greater Manchester the first region outside London with fully joined-up bike, bus, tram, and train travel. Major projects include a new Metrolink line to Stockport, tram-train links between #Oldham, #Rochdale, #Heywood and #Bury, new stops, and upgraded interchanges. These improvements will support thousands of new homes and jobs, cut emissions, and boost green growth. The funding underpins a wider £10bn investment plan. The city-region also aims to secure further support for intercity rail and essential bus routes to ensure long-term connectivity, regeneration, and economic growth across Greater Manchester.
