We can acquaint ourselves with collapse.
Sara El-Sayeh, Post Growth Fellow, introduces the idea of micro-dreaming as a practice to build imaginative bridges between the current world and the one we want to inhabit.
In this beautiful digital zine and article, Sara offers inspiring reflections on the seas (and Cs) of collapse and instructions for how to begin micro-dreaming (full zine here): https://medium.com/postgrowth/acquainting-ourselves-with-collapse-b0e1333413db

If we want to avoid endlessly repeating the same cycles after a crash, we must address all these forms of domination—political, technical, market, and productive. Only then can we hope for a true transformation, not just a return to the old order.
@davevolek Then we will head towards an inevitable crash.
Final task for #AESOP2025 in Istanbul is upcoming. Drop by tomorrow, Friday 11 July, for 'To Transport or not to Transport: Post-Growth Propositions for Transport Infrastructure Planning'. See also https://doi.org/10.1002/jci3.12035 #postgrowth #postgrowthplanning @postgrowthplan

So soothing to read, and the writing is superb; I found myself rereading whole passages for the joy of it.
‘She dreams of a night sky from which the stars have not fled in horror, and of wild-pawed, stinking foxes yapping in a moonlit wood. She can see it; she can almost taste it.‘

@sz_duras #Marx will be useful in re-embedding the mode of production in society. This could be part of a first phase of post-work and post-polis re-embedding: the state (#Rousseau), technology (#Mumford, #Stiegler) and the mode of production (Marx) (re)embedded in society. This would open up the possibility of post-growth (#Saito, and others...), that is to say, re-embedding the market (#Polanyi) in society and society in the natural environment.
@davidorban Because a picture is sometimes worth a thousand words, here is one to illustrate the current embeddings and the desirable embeddings for a post-growth future. The trigger towards this post-growth future could be a post-work reflection, and should necessarily go through the post-political one (end of the city-polis, Michel #Serres). #postPolis #postGrowth #postWork
@davidorban But I have a feeling that #AI will only be used to maintain dominance and that workers will continue to build pyramids. It will go faster, until the whole thing collapses.
@davidorban #Anders explains us fear is necessary for survival, #Diderot spoke of natural anxiety pushing towards self-transcendence....think of #Nietzsche pushes us rediscover our #instincts, that is to say, the "Great Reason", a heuristic of #Jonas, which would allow us to organize #Benjamin pessimism... could we not anticipate the catastrophe outright (#Bravo, #Jameson, #Virilio, @cmoreldarleux )? Would we afraid of discovering #normality is the real #catastrophe @RebeccaSolnit ?
@sz_duras The accumulation of material wealth (#capitalism) must be seen as a continuation of #domination by the hoarding/centralization of knowledge/power by multi-millennial #technoBureaucraticSocialSystems. In the era of #colonialCapitalism, power slipped towards the control of #capital alone. In the industrial and post-industrial/neocolonial eras, we see a return to the #control of #management, #power is (again) in the hands of #managers (#Burnham), now capitalists. #postPolitics #postGrowth
Welcome to post-growth Europe – can anyone accept this new political reality?
> An expert in public policy asks if it will ever be possible for political parties in Europe to be honest about the limits of growth – and still get elected.
@sz_duras : I agree with #Serre's natural contract, but how can we ensure that it is not hijacked, like #Rousseau's social contract, which was distorted by #Robespierre's Terror, and so far? We only hear about a "general interest" to naturalize the #State and its coercive policies. Will we not hear about an "ecological general interest" within the #algorithmicControlSociety of #Deleuze, #Stiegler and #Rouvroy?
Happy 77th, NHS! To celebrate, the government wants you to start hustling. In his searing critique, @ProfTimJackson unpacks how the #NHS10YearPlan turns care into commerce—and Bevan’s dream into a growth strategy. → https://cusp.ac.uk/themes/aetw/blog-tj-fit-for-whose-future/
@sz_duras An insurgent diplomacy of the living to develop a natural contract. (Bio)regional independence favored, post-political systems of representation framed by short and imperative mandates, popular revocability, and random selection, without any filter (with support/expertise). Climate immigration welcome. Post-Promethean post-growth in sight!
Capitalist excess leads to imperialism (#Bataille, #Röpke, #Gramsci, #Arendt, #Joxe)
Imperialism prolongs and radicalizes primitive accumulation (#Marx, #Williams, #Amin)
But, this headlong rush is self-destructive (Bataille)
Ultimately, it paves the way for internal totalitarianism (Arendt), when society can no longer project its contradictions outward.

To truly imagine alternatives, we must dismantle these root structures—military and otherwise—and invent new forms of solidarity, autonomy, and collective power.

The real #critique should not focus only on #capital or the #state, but on the very matrix of #modernity / #coloniality itself, as #Escobar, #Lugones, #Mbembe, and #Mignolo argue. Only at this level can we hope for true #decolonization of #knowledge, #institutions, and #subjectivities.
