It's nice to hear that, but the reality is that laws protecting #whistleblowers are routinely ignored, whistleblowers are fired and sued and those who keep at it regardless may end up as transients or homeless.

There is no recourse unless somebody is both wealthy and persistent enough to obtain even an adequate attorney. Attorneys who take these cases even for tens of thousands of dollars are rare.

I ended up in a #whistleblower situation in 2021 due to the fact that I owed a P.I. a favor. I spent 2022 to 2024 being sued in three actions by a corporation that was determined to use a "shock and awe" boatload of actions to shut me up.

I won so conclusively in 2024 that I didn't even sign a settlement. But I'm about an inch from needing to go through all of it again with two more corporations.

If you're audacious enough to speak up, you'll be called a "vigilante", lied about, and possibly physically threatened. Afterwards, you'll probably need to work until you die. No retirement for you. It isn't much like a feel-good Hollywood movie.

If you'd like to claim that there is actually a way to obtain representation in a whistleblower case, feel free to contact me and prove it. I'm seeking it presently.

In these uncertain times, it’s crucial to recognize the role of whistleblowers in exposing the truth. From Theranos to Facebook, Uber, Google and OpenAI, their courage has uncovered critical issues within the tech industry.

Whistleblowers will remain essential in holding Big Tech and governments accountable and protecting them is more important than ever.

We support and protect journalists, sources and whistleblowers throughout their journey—before, during and years after their disclosures.

At SXSW 2025, we shared how requests for our support have significantly increased, highlighting the growing need for whistleblower protection.

“Plaintiffs face a violation of their constitutional rights, which constitutes irreparable harm. Indeed, the cruel irony is that thousands of #transgender servicemembers have sacrificed — some risking their lives — to ensure for others the very #EqualProtection rights the #Military Ban seeks to deny them,” Reyes wrote, adding that “avoiding constitutional violations is always in the #PublicInterest.”

Lots of chaos happening right now, but I think this one is important for the legal community to note as it cuts into the infrastructure that makes it possible for a lot of people to be able to do public interest / public service work - especially those of us with lived experience or who do not come to law school / professional school / university with much financial cushion and leave buried in debt. #law #publicinterest

#Musk’s business interests…have prompted concerns about #ConflictsOfInterest as he makes important decisions in DC.

Wed, #PublicInterest groups expressed concern that #HowardLutnick’s plans to change the #broadband program will benefit Musk.

“Fiber broadband is widely understood to be better than other internet options — like #Starlink’s #satellites — because it delivers significantly faster speeds,” said Drew Garner, dir of policy engagement for nonprofit Benton Inst for Broadband & Society.

I don't like that public entities are giving power to private individuals, but more than that I’m sick of how these individuals have used that power indiscriminately for self-benefit.

We gave them too much power; now it's time to demand organizations embrace open standards and open platforms.

In an ideal world, organizations would self-host services for video, microblogging, alerts, newsletters, and so on, like they do with email and web services.

Exciting news! We’re welcoming the next set of cities to the Alliance of Civic Technologists! Stay tuned, as we continue to grow the network, by following or joining the newsletter on our site.

Obituary for the late Mark Zuckerberg who turned a Harvard campus creeper app, scraping and rating female students' photos, into a global Public Information Utility, who left this life firmly committed to the right of every member of the Public to enjoy their own truth; and to evade their rights established under the Common Carrier clause of the US Code which was enacted to protect citizens from parasitic utilities like those operated by Meta Corp.
