What worries me (as an ancient former IT Director responsible for a fairly big shop) is the obvious time crunch they’re playing with. Will there be time for debugging, for adequate testing then more debugging after fixes, for running parallel through enough real-time cycles, for documentation, for training? Of course not. That would take analysis, thought, planning, EXPERIENCE — and not one of those qualities does any DOGE member have. They don’t know what the fuck they don’t know.
They’re going to garbage up a super complex system with time-limited production demands of correctly paying seventy million people every month, and the recipients are they who can least afford a govt fuckup.
This makes the Y2K project look like a chat room query, “Wut r u waring?” It’s disastrous and unnecessary.

If instead of spewing an empty slogan Trump really wanted America to be “great again,” continued investment in science would be near the top of his strategy list. Science is, after all, one of the ways America has been considered great, until recently. Kneecapping future discoveries in every scientific discipline hands off the ball firstly to China, and it becomes their game from then on.
Why would such a stable genius choose this path? What is there to gain by tossing aside the big brains, the funds already invested, the future?
Given his slavish commitment to cruelty I can understand shuttering social services and all he & his cabal consider “entitlements.” Ditching science makes no sense in any sane world.

WHERE are the injunctions against unlawful actions that could stop congressionally-mandated disbursement of funds to OVER SEVENTY MILLION PEOPLE?

Not one of these criminal DOGE/CABINET ASSHOLES has experienced what it’s like to depend on a monthly deposit that for many is below the poverty level, and who have no other supplementary income (approximately 40% of SS beneficiaries depend on SS alone).
Seniors, dependents & disabled folks on SS cannot “wait & see what happens” AFTER a DOGE nerd pulls the plug. This must be the time for SOMEONE with guts to be proactive and protect this program.

The entire 47 administration (and all those behind the scenes who provide funding & strategies) constitute a grave moral failure, with the most amoral front man of them all as central figure. If our nation is to reject and overcome this moral crisis, it will only be through actions that have at their heart profound moral clarity.

Maybe I’ve been on social media too long, but as someone hooked on politics since JFK’s campaign, it seems to me the only entities “destabilizing the country” sit in the Oval Office and run DOGE, respectively.
Jan 6th was pretty damn destabilizing, as is the dismantling of ALL Cabinet Departments & Agencies, gov’t services & foreign aid, treaties & ally relationships.

I don’t think there are many voters who would have objected to a reasoned, comprehensive plan for an exhaustive audit of the complex bureaucracy of the US government, with an eye to saving taxpayer funding and streamlining efficiencies. Sure, it might have taken 3 of the 4 years Trump legally has, then a fourth for measured implementation…but at least it would have been the grownup strategy of managed change — instead of the total & brutal wholesale destruction Fucko & Fiend are causing.
The key word in all that palaver is “grownup.” Neither of them have matured beyond 13.
