Along with devastating cuts to numerous govt agencies and relief programs, it should come as no surprise that #DJT admin's ugly cuts to #NEA grants were coming. The severance of support to #arts charities and non profit agencies were made official last week, ending previous grant$ from the #NationalEndowment for the Arts and longstanding annual committments are effectively canceled, almost immediately.

The grant cancellations are particularly dire for arts organizations for which NEA funding may constitute the bulk of a project's budget.

In #SFBayArea , the cut$ include support for the #LGBTQ centric #Frameline #FilmFestival, #SFJAZZ, #Berkeley Rep, Women’s Audio Mission, #American Conservatory #Theater, #TheLab, San Francisco International #Arts #Festival and many many more worthy recipients. Most of these iconic and dedicated organizations will of course be able to continue their track record of creativity and community service, but will be seeking more fiscal signs of support from local sources than ever before and encourage patrons to get personally connected.

Trump Cancels NEA Grants for Many Bay Area Arts Nonprofits | KQED

> The cancellations affect a wide range of Bay Area #arts organizations, including Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Frameline film festival, #SFJAZZ and #TheLab. The emails stated that “the #NEA is updating its grantmaking policy priorities to focus funding on projects that reflect the nation’s rich artistic heritage and creativity as prioritized by the President.”

I'm back at it with my The Lab liveblog: I've finished the RIO track and I'm in the postdoc track, and oh god, his work-life balance dilemmas are so painful to watch. It's well done.

Also well done: real South Asian accents, foods, and right now he and Neha and J.D. are eating curry with their hands at home. Depicting that as the norm that it is is SO important.

#thelab

Okay but I've never seen someone who would walk into the RIO's office and LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN and launch into "My PI is a lying liar" which... already makes me wonder, right? Also the guy's haircut is shitty.

I have no idea which are environmental storytelling and which are red herrings in this moment. I suspect this post will be wearing clown shoes in like 2 minutes.

Me, watching the RIO track: oh the older white PI calling the RIO from a desk that is COVERED in paperwork and a box of kimwipes on its side
oh THEY GET IT
THAT'S SO REAL
oh god and there's an exercise wheel, you can tell he works with mice probably.

The environmental storytelling is choice, y'all.
