The European conservatives in the EPP group have been waging a campaign against NGOs for years...

[Spin 1] ... this misleading framing caught fire in the media, beginning with the Dutch #Telegraaf, on to Italian #Ansa, and to the Czech #Forum24, all of whom suggested former Commissioner #Timmermans was somehow involved in the ‘plot’.

But there is no plot and no 'NGO scandal' except maybe in the heads of MEPs from the EPP and the far right.

Former #neofascist militant #MarcoToffaloni on Thursday got 30 years in jail for the May 1974 #PiazzaDellaLoggia bombing that killed nine people in the northern city of #Brescia.
    The former far rightist, now 67, and a #Swiss citizen, was a minor of 17 at the time of the attack on May 28 1974.

#Italian and #German police on Tuesday arrested a total of 29 people in the two countries accused of belonging to or helping the Calabria-based 'Ndrangheta mafia, Italy's richest and most powerful criminal organisation.
Some 20 people including lawyers and accountants were arrested in Italy and the other nine in the German land of #BadenWürttemberg.
