Just flew into KFKN in my #XPlane #flightsim. Had this been a real flight, this is how I assume the ATC comms would have gone down:

"FKN tower, November 251 Charlie Victor inbound with whiskey."

"One Charlie Victor, where are you landing?"

"The FKN airport."

"No need for profanity, state your destination."

"I'm landing at the FKN airport. Are you in the FKN tower?"

"Yes we have a tower, but it's not a FKN tower."

"Never FKN mind."

Was just asked by a family member how this could have happened in busy L.A. airspace in the era of mandatory ADS-B out:

Via ABC News:

"Southwest flight descends 475 feet to avoid 'midair collision' with Hawker Hunter - The incident occurred shortly after take off from Hollywood Burbank Airport."

I have no answers. SWA should have been on with L.A. Center, who should have gave them vectors for traffic. Something is not right with ATC right now.

@JohnOCFII @reallyjim I have given up. Not going this year, but I always like to play along.

I will try and watch ADS-B for the FISK arrival and also listen via liveatc.net, that is always fun when the field is near saturation. I visited FISK one year when they had an incident on the field that closed the airport, and wow, did those controllers earn their Spotted Cows.

And yes, we brought donuts, the required price of admission.
