Dedicado a les amantes de los cuadernos bonitos donde ir apuntando chorradas y reflexiones serias. Yo los uso también para secar hojas y flores y luego pegarlas a las páginas acompañadas de algún dibujo. Between design bindings, I've been working up a stock of journals for convention season. Right now I'm focusing on finishing up a few of the Hobbit designs. Next to be done is adding a working door that hides the painting.

Deux essais de reliure pour des carnets . reliures criss cross "standard" et une variante. Un style de reliure simple et pratique, qui permet de relier des cahiers de feuilles sans collages et d'ouvrir le livre à plat.

La couverture d'un carnet en papier kraft moucheté de projections d'encre : noir, rouge, doré. On voit les passage des deux ficelles de la reliure qui partent vers le dos du livre.

l'image montre le dos du livre, même papier kraft et même décor. On voit le passage des cinq ficelles de la reliure.

Variante de reliure criss cross. Le plat est recouvert d'un papier Wenzhou portant un motifs à l'encre : mauve, pourpre, rose, vert mousse . Le plat montre trois fenêtre rectangulaires d'où partent vers le dos du livre des fils verts serrés les uns à côté des autres.
Les fenêtres laissent paraître un papier de couleur gris vert.

Le dos de ce carnet dont le papier Whenzou porte le même décor coloré, montre le passage des fils verts serrés sur le dos du livre.

We also created a printed type specimen. Each alphabet was its own book, glued to each other like two wildly opposing styles forced to collab.

Printed in risography and hand bound.

I made a book! My first wholly self-made hardcover one, from signatures to endpapers. #bookbinding

A fairly square hardcover book bound in red cloth with marbled paper pasted on. The marbling is in pink, green, blue, black and yellow. The book is moderately thick.

Process photo. The book cloth and decorative paper is on the boards that have been attached to the book block with mull. Endpapers are not yet on, but the book lies open, propped on kitchen cutting boards, in preparation.

Process photos. There are six, showing the progression of glueing on the book cloth, mostly shots of my hands covering up the book, but with some glueing action thrown in.

The finished book, somewhat open to show off the purple endpapers inside.

Epic: The Muscial Lyric Book

I hope this video will explain how the foiling happens. I created a design for the cover and printed it in plain recycled paper. After securing the foil to the cover, I lay the design over the foil and trace it with the quill, the nib of which is heated metal. It takes practice to figure out how much pressure is needed and how long the quill should stay on any section.

It's finished! My hand bound Critterpedia journal, that I'm going to fill out as I play City Folk. I'm unbelievably pleased with how it came out. It's solid feels good to hold.

I've decided to pick up bookbinding as it was something I was interested in for a number of years now. This was my 3rd attempt at binding a hardback and I gave it to my sister as a present because of how well it came out. It's all blank pages for her to use as an art book/journal.

I used a 3d printed cover and button (both designed by me), bright white 199 gsm paper, and red 0.8mm hemp twine. The twine claims to be 0.5mm but it wasn't until after using it did I realize that it was much larger than that. Still worked like a charm, though it was hard to thread into my needle.

The little bump in the twine on the cover is where I ran out of thread during the binding and hard to tie some twine to finish binding it. It running out there though was a blessing as it would have sucked having a knot that big at any other point in the binding.

Today was art production print shop day, as emily had a ton of projects to finish and I helped by printing, binding, cutting, cyanotyping and whatnot.
