We will host key organisers from the XRS actions, media and regenerative culture working groups, who will tells us about their experiences, and what they have learnt from these intense times.

Come from 5pm, with a 5:30pm start of the discussion. Everyone is welcome, bring a friend!

#extinctionrebellion changed the game for the climate movement, both here in #Scotland and the world over. The energy, mass mobilisations, and sheer audacity of thousands of #climate activists captured the imagination of everyone and forced attention to the #climatecrisis

But the big wave from 2019 has crashed, the world has moved into darker times, and the climate movement is disoriented. What remains from #xr ?

(bron: SOMO)

"Oligarchs and corporations on both sides of the Atlantic want to stamp out any threat to their interests. In the US, this effort has been led by the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. In the UK, the commissioner for countering extremism, Robin Simcox, appointed by the Conservative government, but who remains in post until July, previously worked at … the Heritage Foundation" -- George Monbiot

The Guardian · Vilified, arrested, held incommunicado: that’s the price of protest in Britain todayBy George Monbiot

"Last year [UK police] sent over 1,000 officers from 39 forces, spending £3m, to shut down a climate camp and arrest 24 people, on the grounds that they might have been planning to occupy a road outside a power station. At the same time, they fail even to investigate serious organised crime, citing insufficient resources" -- George Monbiot

"Keir #Starmer’s team might not look or sound like Donald Trump’s, but its policies on protest and dissent are chillingly similar. So is the reason: coordinated global lobbying by the rich and powerful, fronted by rightwing junktanks" -- George Monbiot

A spokesperson for #ExtinctionRebellion said: “Even the government’s own advisors say we need to end burning trees in power stations by 2027. So the fact that the government has committed billions of pounds of public money so #Drax can keep doing this until 2031 doesn’t make sense. This decision needs to be urgently revisited.” extinctionrebellion.uk/2025/03
