Do you live in the Pajaro area of Monterey county and have a private well? If so, and you think flood waters may have entered your well, the well should be tested for bacteria and may require disinfection after flood waters recede. Bacteria can be found in flood water from sources such as animal wastes.
Monterey County is offering vouchers. Pick up a sterile bottle at a county lab and turn it back in once you’ve taken the sample.
Questions about testing should be directed to your local health department. In the meantime, switch to bottled water for drinking!
