That's right. The core of conservatism. "Rules for thee, but not for me." They're trying to make it into an ethnic thing too, so that can only fit with traditionalist supremacist views bound tightly with monarchism and aristocracy.

Some good news

#Labour has blocked 11 hunts from riding on government land.

Licences for trail hunting on Ministry of Defence land have not been issued for the new season, which began on Sept 1.

Trail hunting is one of the remaining permitted forms of hunting on horseback with hounds since the banning of #foxhunting.

Ministers are understood to be reviewing “all options”, including the possibility of ending licences to deliver on their pledge to ban trail hunting before a decision is made.

The Dunston Harriers (aka #foxhunting bastards) meet every year at the market cross in Wymondham, Norfolk, an event dating back to at least the 1960s and attended by several thousand people.

But this year, Wymondham Town Council took the decision to ban them from meeting in what it called, "outdated practice"

They said they were trail hunting or whatever ...

A May 2024 article in the Northumberland Gazette reveals that xe isn't bringing a court case, but in fact has declared xyrself a legal expert and written a pre-prepared defence ("a mini-PhD") for *others* to use, if they are foolhardy enough to use Ed Swales as their solicitor in whatever case they face.

And some barrister has since said "I could certainly argue that, old chap. For a fee, of course."

Ed Swales is ex-Army and heretofore largely neutralized, with respect to the friendly fire damage to #foxhunting that xe could do, as little more than an obscure occasional contributor to Country Squire Magazine.

#PhilMoorhouse has made another fundamental blunder today, assuming as the basis for this piece that there is a "they" and the "they" is #foxhunting people.

There's 1 person here. It's Ed Swales, chairman of Hunting Kind, which is a lobbyist organization that xe founded and made xyrself the chairman of in 2022, not actually a foxhunting "pack" (as they call themselves).

It would be comedy gold to watch the founder of Hunting Kind go to court to argue that #foxhunting is an ethnicity;

not just to witness every foxhunter in the country oppose Hunting Kind once they realize the full legal implications of this boneheaded idea, e.g. opening them up to racial discrimination liability under part 7 of the Equality Act 2010;

but also to see the spectacle, if xe succeeds, of Captain Ed Swales getting the title of best hunt saboteur sleeper agent in history.

The man is a fool.

Barristers themselves often say how wrong it is to confuse "Yes, ser, I can certainly argue your case — for a fee." with "You can win your case.".

But that aside, a successful (ludicrous) argument that foxhunters are a race would open all #foxhunting "packs" in the country up to discrimination liability, with respect to non-hunters, under part 7 of that very Equality Act 2010.

Xe would destroy the very groups xe claims to support.
