Meet the Hoatzin!
A bird like no other, found in South America’s swamps. It ferments plant material , earning the name "Stinkbird." Its chicks hatch with clawed wing digits, helping them climb—an ancient trait rarely seen today. With a spiky crest and vivid blue face, the Hoatzin is truly unique.

What was that about us having teeth designed to eat meat...
(Humans are natural herbivores or even frugivores, omnivores by cultural learnings)

Really impressive job in this tv interview explaining the logic of vegetarianism/Veganism and humans being naturally herbivores.
I spent much of my life not eating meat until I started working with Indigenous communities and was offered salmon or other meat in ceremony. At the time I was also running a lot at the time and found myself craving more protein and I wasn't doing a great job being plant fueled, although I know it's totally possible and likely better in a variety of ways.
Even if you eat meat we can probably all agree factory farming is unspeakably awful. We are a pretty awful species to so many others on this planet.
Hats off to this person for so eloquently making the case for rethinking our relationship to meat. Honestly making me question how I have switched to eating meat more often these days. Mostly fish or chicken but it's still worthy of real discussion and deeper reflection.
Perhaps one of the most divisive and difficult changes to contemplate in terms of social cha ge. So tired to culture, family history and ceremony.
Curious what others think about this.
Did you know it is possible to dupe herbivores from eating threatened plants? The trick is to confuse their most sensitive sense - smell.
By planting non-edible plants around threatened plant species, researchers have found that herbivores are much less likely to recognise and target the rare plants, which can assist in their protection and doesn't harm the animals.
