In this second-person meditation on the Hoh Rain Forest of Olympic National Park, I contemplate its proliferation of abundant life. The forest becomes a patient guide for me, a moss-embroidered forest of wisdom, lined with ferns and storied over with trees older than memory. It asks nothing of us. Its only purpose is life itself.

Oh yeah, here’s the project I’ve been working on :) a lil Girl Scout cookie booth AAC board for nonspeaking kids, kids with apraxia of speech, kids with selective mutism, or even Deaf/HoH kids who want a backup option to sign or speech.

A lot of folks realized that the sale side helps Deaf/HoH folks order, and a few more requested a translation to Spanish and Hindi for their customer base that speak those languages. I provide them all free, with variations for both bakeries (ABC and LBB) in my girl scouting graphics dropbox, bit.ly/GSfilesbyLondon

An adaptive communication “board” that can be printed to use to sell Girl Scout cookies. The right side has a cookie menu with names, pictures and descriptions of each cookie, with the name color matching the cookie’s box color. The top says “would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?”. Below the menu are numbers 1 through 12 in alternating colors for ease of eye tracking, and the words “How Many?”. To the left are boxes with phrases and matching pictographs to help quickly identify without reading every single time: yes, no, cash, card, tap (with phone), can you say that again?, would you like a bag?, and my leaders can help you.
The back side of the board for communication with leaders. Both sides are meant to be laminated together. The communication options with pictographs are: I need help, I am tired, too bright, I need to sit, money, I am hungry, I am thirsty, too loud, I will show you, I got hurt, too hot, too cold, I am worried or scared, Writing, I’m happy, more, I don’t know, can you say that again?, toilet, this is broken, yes, no.
