Apparently Canada’s #Interac system went down this morning for many retailers & banks. Problem traced to Bell network.
And the entire country yet again realized no one has cash on them anymore…

So I do my bank login, go through the personal ID verification stages and add lots of challenge questions (GCKey needs 5 different questions/answers), and it asks me to pick my bank again. But it only offers six - BMO, CIBC, Desjardins, RBC, Scotiabank, TD - and mine's not there.

Tried to sell something on Facebook Marketplace and somebody attempted to scam me. While that alone isn't groundbreaking, the polish on this particular scam stood out and is something I could easily have fallen for if I were rushing and not paying attention. I took copious screenshots and wrote about it.

TIL that #Interac doesn't allow a ":" and/or a "#" character in the message to recipient of an e-transfer. The developers of this system are an embarrassment to the software profession.

Weirdly, I had perhaps the same issue with an #Interac e-transfer this week; I couldn't #deposit it into my credit union account. I thought it was that they'd failed to test their in-house online banking against #Firefox (which I run into a lot... feeling like 1998 again), but I also noticed 3rd-party #cookies being #blocked.
I wonder if #medical/#financial online sites loading Google/Facebook/whatever analytics violates #PIPEDA?
Fascinating observation with #interac #etransfer is that there is only a single set of password.
If someone sends payment 1 with a security question A, and they send payment 2 with security question B (before payment 1 is accepted), payment 1 and payment 2 will share the same security question. So this essentially reverse the first question/password
Having a pretty good chuckle as an old (1970s) banker at the Murricans realizing today that 
not only has a very strong and well-regulated banking system, but has had cash dispensers since those 70s, #interac since the '80s, cashless payment systems since 2001 and....free (more or less depending on account) cash transfer to any recipient with an email addy or a cell phone for a long time.
Phishing question. Canadians who have used Interac. You know the email you sometimes get directing you to a financial institution. I just noticed it uses a clck dot ru link and I got very suspicious!? Legit?
