It’s been a very people-y day and my social battery was critically low. Instead of just coming home and crawling into bed to stare into the void, I had a shower, made myself a strawberries and cream matcha in my new gadget from Bird & Blend Tea Co., popped on a face mask and listened to the new lo-fi album from Bring Me The Horizon. Now all is well with the world 😌🧘‍♀️

I don't take my lunch breaks at work.
I don't hang out with co-workers (or anyone) after work.
I don't attend staff functions.

My co-workers don't understand, but it's like this: you know those status effect bars in video games, like you get poisoned and it builds and builds, and you have to wait for the status effect to slowly come down before you chance getting poisoned again?

Yeah, that's me. I have to get fully away from people to survive them.

Let me tell you something. I am an introvert and a very pronounced introvert. And I realized the most important thing as far as I'm concerned, which is that my first and last task is to provide myself with the conditions for an introvert, that is, me. I only function well in solitude, which means that I have to have enough space and time to be alone, without anyone. I'm not an extrovert and I can't function in this overstimulating world. I need as much peace as possible.

Furthermore, while I lose a large amount of sanity with my children around, I am positively feral without them. I love them with my heart and soul, lay down my life for them, but the calm and fulfillment in my brain right now is off the charts. My introverted mind is relaxed and happy because I don’t need to leave it and deal with someone else. And no, I don’t feel guilty. Since February 29, 2020, I’ve been with them 95%+ of the time. #introvert
