TIL: Pour the water from the kettle into a saucepan and bring to a boil.

WHAT? I've been doing this wrong my whole life.

First, I've only had an electric kettle for a few years. Second, it's underused. Third, this will DRASTICALLY speed up pasta cooking time.

Surprisingly to see how much a kettle power lead warmed up when boiling a kettle.
Makes sense as 2kW is flowing through it.

You and your kettle do WHAT at the same time???

Some of you must be electric #kettle people. Is there anything I should know about joining the #ElectricKettle ranks? Is the 1.7L Ambiano (#Aldi brand) kettle US$18.99 sufficient or do I need to be choosier? It feels pretty cheap but I just need it for a few mugs of #tea a day. It includes the basic safety features and seems to do its job just fine - I just don't know if there are any "you'll hate yourself if you don't get one that does/includes X" features for which I should be looking.
