That was fun. My old friend asked me to make a logo for this year’s Girls Rock Camp Houston. Decided to keep hyping up #PolyStyrene for the next generation so that she’ll never be forgotten.

Also, looking to connect with other GenX/Xennials who were part of the whole #GirlsRockCamp, #Ladyfest era of #punk. I feel like I have to say it’s trans/nb inclusive even though I wish that was just understood. All of this stuff was led by queer punks. I lived in Portland, OR when the first Girls Rock Camp happened and I went to the first Ladyfest in Olympia, Washington in 2000. Later in 2008, my band played Ladyfest in London, Cork & Madrid. Super important & formative time for me. #FeministPunk #QueerPunk #RiotGrrrl #ShotgunSeamstress

I did a talk at a zine fest recently and only one person in the room had heard of #XraySpex. The band was fronted by teenaged Ethiopian-British, eccentric, bipolar, avant-garde, punk singer and songwriter #PolyStyrene who was born OTD in 1957. Her daughter, #CelesteBell made a documentary about her that came out in 2021. #punk #1977 #WomenInPunk #WomenOfColor

Appliqué embroidery on a thrifted T-shirt which I made after punk singer Poly Styrene died in 2011.
This was before I even owned a sewing machine so I had to stitch the letters on by hand.
I can't remember where the green satin came from but I still have the spool of neon yellow thread. 😂
The T-shirt doesn't exist anymore but I salvaged the embroidery and turned it into a patch.
