Okay I’ve heard some of y’all’s opinions on #Section31, both with and without actually seeing it. And I chose to watch it.
Definitely not traditional #StarTrek. And I went into it knowing full well it wasn’t.
You know what? For just a simple story based on Star Trek lore, I enjoyed it just fine. No, it wasn’t amazing, but I didn’t think it deserves some of the negativity I’ve read.
Then again, I’ve never watched ANY Star Trek I flat out hated.
I also liked Star Wars Eps. 1 & 7-9, so booyah!
Well. I saw "Section 31" (2025).
Hmm. I went in with the expectation that it would be bad Trek, but possibly a fun movie.
But, well, it was actually more Trek than I expected, but also a very mediocre movie.
A LOT of the problem was that it was clearly a concept that relied heavily on snappy dialog -- but the dialog consistently fell flat.
I feel like a script doctor could've made a BIG difference in a short time. But alas, no.

I think I'm going to do it. I am feeling especially forgiving right now. I am going to give #Section31 a second chance. This time, obviously, I will not watch with any expectations.

So glad they never released the “Very Short Treks” on home video, so my #StarTrek completionist urges don’t have to be at war with the “but they were absolute crap” reality.
(This may have been triggered by the #Section31 Blu-ray arriving today, which is near but not at the nadir of Trek films.)

Ich hatte wirklich keine großen Erwartungen, aber dieses Werk hat sie noch mal deutlich unterboten. Wow - langweilig. Mission-Impossible im Weltall, Priorität auf „hey wir sind so cool“ mit viel zu langen „ach wie witzige Sprüche“-Austausch a la Guardians of the Galaxy oder so. Aber sonst? Wackeln, prügeln, Gewalt und etwa 30 Sekunden Story um alte Freundschaften und späte Erkenntnisse. Puh

I didn't even know it was out yet. I'm still waiting for S3 of #StrangeNewWorlds.
Frankly I have no interest in "#Section31" and always found the character of #PhilippaGeorgiou to be quite obtuse all the way back to the parallel universe from #Discovery.
Although I am looking forward to the #StarfleetAcademy spin-off with #7of9.

@kcarr2015 I'm not sure what his rank was in the #Section31 movie. He seemed to have his own ship though.
I watched #Section31 last night I think it was the worst piece of #StarTrek media I've seen so far, and I think I've seen it all.

Die beste Filmpromo seit langem die ich auf Youtube gesehen habe. Wollen wir hoffen das der Film ähnlich gut wird. Nach den ganzen Enttäuschungen der letzten Zeit mit #Schneewitchen #Minecraft #Section31 #Electricstate und dutzender anderer Schrottfilme hätten wir echt mal wieder gute Unterhaltung verdient. Hoffentlich kann #TheAmateur die liefern.

Example: the #StarTrek #Section31 movie (yes, I know, but I’m a sucker) is available for pre-order. But if I go to startrek.com, the Section 31 page doesn’t mention the home media release, and the “shop” in the menu is just stuff, not home media.
