Visualisation (eye strain warning) of how two talks at the same time appear in my autistic brain
@Addmen Same! I tied mine to my UV flashlight at #Blissfest and have a backup set of alpine partyplug pros in my "ear kit" if the loops aren't enough.
9pm and still have not eaten. I just can’t. The aftermath of this morning’s toothpaste incident AND a visit to the dentist. I’ve been having coffee and tea all day though :) Hopefully all this #sensoryOverload will reset overnight.
When you're in sensory overload and nobody will leave you alone, that's a good time to pull out your taser.
During our last night in Bilbao, the streets were heaving and the pintxos bars were full to the brim. Previously, we have been able to find the odd quiet spot and enjoy the vibrant city in comfort, but it became almost unbearable. Large crowds, noisy environments and stifling heat combined to bring on the inevitable sensory overload.
Knowing when to call it a day meant that we avoided ruining what had been another wonderful 24 hours in the Basque Country.
So for me cold feet take on a whole new meaning of hell. Not for my imaginary partner, no, for me sensory overload hell. It may sound odd for feet to control so much, trust me, I agree it is utter #chaos. What do I find as a solution?

I have risked physical injury to avoid sensory overload. It's not that I'm unaware of the danger. It's a calculated risk I take, which I consider fully worthwhile.
It's an established fact that autistic facial expressions are often below the threshold of conscious awareness to non-autistic observers. I linked to research on this topic not long ago.
Next time you hear about an autistic kid having no sense of danger or no fear, consider the possibility that maybe the kid was suffering from sensory overload and those around them just couldn't see it on their face. Maybe that kid ran out into traffic or into the woods alone to get away from something that was making them miserable, and you just missed all the signs.

3 1/2 minutes into A Quiet Place, and all I can think is how beautiful the lack of sound is so far. I'm sure I'll get jumpscared soon enough, but in the meantime, wow, this is nice!
I really want to get cochlear implants or something along those lines so I can voluntarily turn *off* my hearing. My life would be so much better if I had control over that. No more marathon torture sessions at the hands of neglected neighborhood dogs or tweenagers who mistakenly think their bass makes them cool...
I started watching Twitch again after a seven-week break for Lent. Watching it the way I did before has not been good for me, so I plan to drastically limit how I watch it or be willing to stop watching altogether.
Here, there, everywhere, across #YYJ - so many loud road/building construction noises.
I forgot my earplugs at home today.
