This should be the last of my plain white #miniatures for a while. Just wanted to share that I got my #roguetrader space marine #renegades primed, as well as the bulk of my “sci-fi” bases for my #spacehulk #minis! Can't wait to get these all painted up for some Space Hulk. Not entirely sure what I'm doing with the renegades, but they'll be #emperorschildren. I'm just trying to get some models from Rogue Trader and the 2nd edition #chaos codex together.

Here goes the third batch of my genestealers from the 2014 Space Hulk box. I almost gave up painting those three dude, having a forced stop in the hobby. Thankfully, i past over it and slowly try to retake an habbit to paint. One brushstoke at a time.

Someone once asked why i had painted them with such a colorful scheme instead of the usual white-ish and purple one in the box.

Well. First of all, i don't really like the classic colour scheme, the one from the Leviathan Hive. And by lore, space hulks are very very old space shipwrecks that xenos try to infest to go somewhere else, off the radar and without effort, letting warp-breach and drift do their thing. So for tyranids of a recent invasion, i feel it odd.

Second, i do really like the colour scheme of the Behemoth fleet, the very first tyranid invasion with red skin and dark-blue chitin. It also makes more sense for them to infest a space-hulk rather than Leviathan offspring, since they where here more or less 250 years before. A lot more time and opportunity to sneak into a wreck.

Finally, i did a kind of pinkish purple skin rather than a red one for aesthetic reasons. Blood angels are full red already so it would have been a bit redundant. And i don't really like to paint red much.

Why did i start painting those damn marines...

Lots of grey plastic in this one — hastily constructed Phobos vs. Blades of Khaine. A hilarious bloodbath of a game, thoroughly recommend this matchup of two teams where every activation ruins someone’s day.

10-9 to the Space Marines — one model left each, and went down to the last activation!

Spent last weekend building / roughly painting the #Gallowdark terrain that's been on the shelf for months, for a #KillTeam game this weekend. Was a great game – my Bone Brigade AoD against the Legionaries the boy built last week. Really swingy and brutal – the close quarters environment makes for a very different game, and obviously we bought very different versions of these teams.

(Also spent a good chunk of last week printing an alternate version of this terrain, with magnets for quick assembly – a decision that seems absolutely justified after it took me an hour to set up this simple layout..)

Brother Leon, Blood Angels 1st Company, Space Hulk box 2014

"Brother Leon doesn't say much, but his devastating assault cannon is eloquent enough for the both of them. For Leon, there's only one thing that matters in a battle : kill ratio. The more targets presented by the foe, the happier Leon is. When not fighting, Leon fastidiously maintains his weapons and armour, making small adjustments, adding his own litanies and benedictions to the machine spirits. This has caused some controversy with the Techmarines of the Chapter, who have repeatedly requested that Gideon bans Leon from the armoury when unaccompanied by one of ther order."

Soo many details on this minis, it's insane. And so much time spend on the nmm. It was hard, but i'm satisfied with the result. The rest of the squad will take some time to color, that's for sure.

I can only thank Poem, a french hobbyst, who helped me years ago to get my hands on this game.

Also... A funny coincidence. I blindly picked up one of the terminators to start painting everything in red. At the moment of writing the name on the shoulder, i realized it was Leon. The same name than my young nephew. I hope someday i will have the chance to play with him. And that the whole set will be painted by then.

I finally got my #oldhammer #spacehulk #genestealer hybrid recasts cleaned up and assembled! They could still use a little putty and cleaning before I paint them, but they are most of the way there. It'll be fun to have my copy complete again and fully painted for the first time. Although I still need to sort out the librarians. My buddy says he still has one of our old ones though, so that should just be a matter of time.
Not the best picture, but I just have to share, I'm getting my #oldhammer #genestealer hybrids assembled! Each one of these represent a surprising amount of work and effort: between making a mold, casting each part, and cleaning them up. I'm going to be working on these probably over the next week, cleaning up the parts and glueing/assembling them. I'll post another image when I have the full 10 units that came with the #spacehulk Genestealer expansion assembled and ready.
Working on my genestealers recently and got me thinking about #spacehulk. I pulled out my buddy's and my shared copy, along with the Genestealer expansion and took stock of the contents.

The components are basically all there, but the miniatures have gotten lost over the years. I found a nice proxy for the marines, and I still have one of the flamer covers. Since you can play with two squads, you're going to want at least two flamers, so after a quick search I decided to try #3dmodeling my own. Pictured are the results.

It's not 1:1 but it's pretty close. The curved shape was the hardest, and it's also the least accurate, but it's really the best I could do at the time. I got bogged down trying to print the best version of it that I could yesterday, but one portion of the model doesn't seem to save to STL properly, and another part of it doesn't come out super clearly, but I'm sick of messing around with it. These will definitely do!
