@davidbures @haui @EUCommission nodds in agreement

#Housing should be highly regulated like any #infrastructure that is inherently a natural monopoly

This is another prototype where I'm putting together some of the earliest optimised canvas drawing I had written for the first Deluxe Draw version (last month), I replaced the bespoke hardcoded GUI elements with Deluxe UI widgets (newly written, in the last couple of weeks), and re-implemented parts of (last week's) ZX Draw code example I had written for Deluxe UI.

In theory, if this experiment succeeds, I should be able to deliver a Deluxe Draw that is able to work with both, modern layered pixmap painting, and with old ZX Spectrum mode painting. And with Deluxe UI running unmodified on Mac, Linux, and Windows!

So far, so good!

It’s a great year if you want some FPGA powered #retrocomputing flavoured toys: the new Commodore 64 line, and the ZX #SpectrumNext Issue 3.

I’m fully saturated on the C64 front though, but still curious about the Next. Especially the Magenta version.

But I really don’t know why I’d need a Spectrum. I asked the hivemind about this earlier when I was wondering whether to buy a Harlequin kit - I did, but I am still not sure why I need a #Spectrum 😀 Please convince me.

In the 1980s, I only used the rubber-keyed 48k once to try out a BASIC program at a local department store’s computing section. So I don’t have that ”connection”.

Still on the spectrum. Socketed loads of ics. Tested them. It's still flakey. Swapped TR4, TR5 with a different speccy. Still a massive 1.6v ripple on the 12v. Replaced most of the caps. Only wants to run the diagram. Refuses to run any other rom. I think this one is cursed.

Bit forward, bit backward. Lower ram seems to test ok now. But now I get random nmi or random key presses without keyboard connected. ULA works fine in a different spectrum. I might end up socketing everything. But that feels a bit of a defeat. It also seems very picky about the eproms I use.
