Okay, I managed to set up a Codeberg page set up on the default Codeberg subdomain. Then I managed to get it to redirect to www.<my real name>.com, using CNAME as described here

The only problem was that https://<my real name>.com without the www failed to load anything.

I tried adding a redirect from the root domain to a www subdomain using namecheap's control panel, and that immediately broke everything. Then I tried deleting the redirect, and everything is still broken. Then I tried deleting the CNAME record and the .domains file in the hope that if I couldn't use a custom domain I could at least get the Codeberg page working again: nope! Despite deleting all references to my own domain from the Codeberg repository, my Codeberg page still doesn't load at all.

Is there a "Hey, I know you're not a computer programmer at all and don't know anything about how the internet works, here's how you point your domain to the hosting provider" 101? The Codeberg docs are written for someone who already knows things like "what is a DNS record" and "what's CNAME" .

EDIT:
Update: I now have <domain>.com working, but not www.<domain>.com.
