@Sonikku Nice! That's exactly what I did the last time I played Phantasy Star.

I have an Arm powered fanless Pinebook and I load up a PDF or walkthrough and set it right next to me on the bed while I play.

I really do miss having physical guides though. I love flipping through them.

Good luck on the game! The original Master System version is quite brutal and I highly recommend the Nintendo Switch Sega Ages version for a more streamlined experience but you can't go wrong with either.

@Judeau I did grab an improvement patch that rebalances XP and money to be a little less grindy

@Sonikku Awesome! That's basically what the Switch version does in addition to an optional auto map.

The extra XP and gold definitely make it a more streamlined game. Though there were a couple of areas where I still had to grind for a bit, but in my opinion it made it a much more palatable experience these days.

Is this your first time playing through PS1?

@Judeau Yep. Wanted to do a play through of the later Genesis games but decided it was best to start at the beginning

@Sonikku Haha! Yep. I did the same thing. I played through PS1 and then PS2 last year.

I'm hoping to start PS3 sometime soon and then replay PS4 after that.

It's been a lot of fun.
