#acknowledgment

1 post1 participant0 posts today

Can I start a movement - I’ll call it #acknowledgment - and what it’s about is the almost universal failure these days to acknowledge emails. It leaves the person initiating the correspondence left wondering if it was ever received - and I find that rude. An acknowledgment dispels any doubt, gives one a contact point, and takes no more than a second or two. Please promote this if you agree!!

#Acknowledgment of the #struggle is sometimes enough to start a path to #help. #AFGE shows unwavering support of #SuicidePrevention & #MentalHealthAwareness! 💙Partnering with #TheGrayMattersCollective - dedication to protecting federal workers
#MentalHealth is just as crucial as #PhysicalHealth, and AFGE's initiatives make a real impact. Together, we can prevent tragedies, and truly #BeTheChange

Nagle's algorithm + TCP delayed acknowledgment

Hacker News 上看到「It's always TCP_NODELAY (brooker.co.za)」,在講常遇到的 TCP 效能問題,原文在「It’s always TCP_NODELAY. Every damn time.」這邊。

這邊提到了兩個 TCP 上的演算法,Nagle's algorithm 是把小封包積著,等到收到 ack 後再集中丟出去,這樣可以降低 TCP overhe

Gea-Suan Lin's BLOG · Nagle's algorithm + TCP delayed acknowledgment

Just watched Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's interview with Fox. Some tough questions were posed in this Interview:

It's interesting how didn't evade questions, acknowledged one of the great mistakes has made (), & pointed to some of the outdated laws in his country while sending the msg that he is a reformer and is trying his best to modernize those laws.

I wish more leaders of Middle Eastern countries were like him, accepting the responsibility for some horrible events happening during their time and clearly communicating to the world how they are preventing such terrible mistakes from happening in the future.

Mid afternoon thoughts on #appreciation:

I once read a quote which said, “you should stop doing things when they are #expected rather than appreciated.” And, while I don’t think it applies to every situation 100%, I do think it’s a good guide.

The most common complaint I hear from people about their #work (whether that’s paid, volunteer or domestic) is that they don’t feel appreciated - by their bosses, colleagues or partners.

In most instances, a little appreciation goes a long way. A #ThankYou or an #acknowledgment don’t take the place of a #PayRise, a #bonus or #SharingTheWorkload but they do mean a better work environment for everyone.

People who feel #UnderValued often also feel #resentful and that adds to #ToxicWorkEnvironments.

None of us are perfect but we can all try to show the people in our lives the appreciation they deserve and hopefully some of that comes back to us as well.
