A very detailed investigation on what is needed client-side can be found in the #AndStatus project. It was never completed AFAIK as there were among others no server implementations to test against.

@liaizon Honestly the shortest path to my goal (use my phone to keep up with my home timeline without spending at least half that time recovering from bugs and dealing with politics I can't hide) is probably switching back to #AndStatus and trying to tackle the minor bugs it has that made me leave it.

Still has built in support for pump.io (i.e. identi.ca), one of the only ones that still supports GNU Social natively and still has regular updates. Living in a rural area it's great to be able to download my feed and read it at my leisure even when there is no internet.

Ich benutze nach wie vor den Browser als #Webapp. Leider zieht das nur viel Strom vom Tablet.
#AndStatus hat sich als richtiger Stimmungskiller herausgestellt. Ja, man kann drölfzig Dinge irgendwo in versteckten Menüs einstellen, aber es hilft einem auch nicht, wenn man erst gar nicht kapiert an welche Funktion man da einen Haken macht oder nicht, bzw. was diese Funktionen bewirken sollen. Ich finde es ist eine schlechte Übersetzung oder die Funktionen sind schlecht bezeichnet ... sagt die Bäuerin deren Bikini Schuld ist, wenn sie nicht schwimmen kann

Aktuell benutze ich #Friendica als #Webapp auf meinem Tablet. Ich werde mir die anderen Apps auch noch angucken, außerdem habe ich noch eine entdeckt: #AndStatus
