I'm #passionate about writing. My first few lines of #originality was at the age of 7 and since then I’ve obsessively written and read and spent a good chunk of energy to hone that skill. It was about 8 years ago, my #ego finally surrendered to the realisation that (from about the age of 10), I have been writing for a decade with the #voice of my favourite author. I have been experimenting and giving myself the safe space for my #authenticity to come out. #writing #write #author #art #writer

Absolutely so!

In my first academic job, decades ago, we used the fragile Windows 3.1 on our machines. It crashed all the time, and if you hadn't done a recent Save, a morning's writing was lost. Expletives were heard all through the departmental corridor. But the new draft, written from scratch, always was better.

I have kept the habit. When I revise my lecture notes for the new year, I don't actually revise the old text, I write it afresh, with occasional direct copies of complex material from last year. It breathes life into the text.

Your Instagram feed is full of "authentic" content that's more artificial than actual AI.

Think about it: Filters, perfect lighting, scripted "candid" moments, Photoshop – we've been chasing machine-like perfection for years.

Now that actual machines can do it better, suddenly we're craving real human messiness again.

The irony is delicious.
