I just finished reading Aurélien Sanchez's after race report on his Barkley Marathons finish in 2023.
What a great story! Well narrated, it brings the reader completely in the Barkley's atmosphere. (Or what I could imagine it is, as I have never experienced this first hand).

Highly recommended!

After a record five finishers in last year's Barkley Marathon this year there were none. That's not uncommon. It took 10 years to have its first finisher and only 20 people have finished it over its 40 year history. #running #BM100 irunfar.com/2025-barkley-marat…

In the howling wind and rain, John Kelly completes a “Fun Run” at the 2025 Barkley Marathons in 39 hours and 50 minutes. Afterward, he takes the ceremonial bugle and plays his own taps. In one of the most grueling editions in recent memory — an event that quickly reduced most of the field before the end of Loop 1 and saw no one come anywhere close to completing five loops — John was one of the few runners still moving by Loop 3 and the only one to reach the gate within the 40-hour time limit. What a performance in a year that seemed to underscore just how significantly Carl and Laz dialed up the difficulty… #barkley #barkleymarathons 🎥 @roosmith6 Thank to @nordarun, @gorewear, @naakbars, and @raide.research for supporting our coverage."407 likes, 1 comments - runsingletrack on March 20, 2025: "“Want a chair?” a spectator asks. “No..chairs are for finishers,” John replies.
