@FabianLaasch Ich hoffe sehr, der alte bleibt erhalten. #CHADEMO
There are 12 #CCS chargers, two of which feature #CHAdeMO ports, so, as one representative said, "If you can fast charge, you can fast charge here. Most CCS chargers were 185-kW ABB chargers, but there are two 350-kW stalls. Representatives told InsideEVs that the current charger proportions are relative to the current marketplace, and the ratio of NACS to CCS chargers and the ratio of 185 kW chargers to 350 kW will change as the market evolves. (3/4)
@katfeete We have a #nissanleaf - 4 years note. We have a level 2 charger. Excellent town car BUT not for highway: not enough #CHAdeMo chargers out there.
Different #EV brands have different #charge port locations.
This has caused increasing frustration as the variety of cars has grown dramatically over the last decade.
Some say car companies should standardize...
#CircleK in #Norway says "Hold my non alcoholic beverage!"
If your car supports #CCS or #Chademo, then it WILL fit here!

@vinc Gadzooks!
150 miles EPA and stuck on CHAdeMO charge ports?!
If they had just changed the port to CCS, it would have helped.
Presently in the parking lot of an actual drug store, at one of just two DC fast charging stations in Columbia, MO home of our largest state university.
There are four chargers here. One is ICE’d (stupid gas car blocking it) and two are broken. But we got the last one to work.
As much as I hate Elon and Tesla, I sure am glad the new standard is NACS and with our next EVs we’ll be able to use that [wildly better] network.

There's (apparently) finally a #Chademo to #CCS2 adapter! (If you don't know what I'm on about, you're lucky. #Nissan #Leaf owners will know.)
Is this the same one you mentioned a while back, Gavin @KiwiEV ?
The sticking point is it's only sold on Alibaba, which is B2B, so you have to buy 2 and they're US$1050 each. Ouch. But at least now the adapter exists and we can hope the price comes down. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/CCS2-TO-CHAdeMO-adapter-DC-fast_1600998694103.html Heard about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wydql2N_F-k (Dala is Norwegian and a hoot.)

A friend of mine asked about the charging port on my car, casually asking if it was a #ccs port.
That’s a rabbit hole in #Japan which actually DOES NOT use any fast charging port you’d recognize from another country.
Japan uses a fast charging port called #chademo. This, literally, comes from the phrase “Cha de mo” or loosely “how about tea?” Which in Japan is closer to an invitation to a light meal.
This charging port, is almost literally named “how about a snack?”
A slight bit of explanation is needed. Pretty universally, rapid chargers in Japan are time limited to 30 minutes. It’s an odd quirk, but it’s quite predictable, and they generally charge by the minute, not the KWh.
Literally, the rapid chargers were designed to take as long as a light meal to charge a car (at that time) from 20 to 80%.
My car, a #solterra, needs a 100kW charger, to achieve this, but a lighter car like a leaf, is perfectly suited to the most common 50kW chargers.
Japan just does things differently.
When we bought our Nissan Leaf EV in 2018 I read it was the most popular EV in all of Europe, so a bet on CHAdeMO felt safe. Fast forward to now and it’s pretty gutting to see banks of new chargers pop up which are exclusively CCS and CHAdeMO being a bit of a rarity.

There's so much #HATE in the comments section of our recent videos for the #NissanLEAF electric car, and in fact any car that uses #CHAdeMO as its charging standard.
Telling owners of older EVs to metaphorically just go suck it because their car's charging standard is no-longer used by new cars is antithetical to my entire reason for covering this industry. I'm really quite upset about it.
I’ve owned two LEAFs, and loved them. I don't love the way that Nissan handled the battery issues these cars had, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the cars because.. I DID.
Can you all help me understand why the #EV world is so darned fractured and #tribalistic right now, especially in the #US? It's getting me down.

@yatil our car has an old #chademo plug, which will be gone at some point (as far as I know). So this is already a limitation. And just because it says there's a station available, doesn't mean it's working. If it's not working, you can call the hotline and they might be able to reset, but maybe not.
If you can charge there and the station is working, you might have to wait because there's only one and several people already waiting to charge. I've experienced all that multiple times
US is embracing #Tesla #NACS charging standard that currently max out at 250kw.
European #CCS have chargers with up to 360kw.
Chinas #GBT standard seem to be able to go up to 480kw.
A work in progress #Chaoji is joining GB/T and Japanese #CHAdeMO standard with at least 900kw speed and bidirectional capabilities. Could be backward compatible with CCS.
Charging speed isn't everything though. Efficiency is important also. Is the US choosing the best way forward?
