This week, during my vacation in Kołobrzeg in Poland I found another restaurant called „Zaab”, which serves this dish and has almost the same taste, even a bit better. I went there 4 days in a row to eat this dish.

Today I took the time to hand write a note in Thai to the cook to praise them for their cooking skills and ask them, if they could share the secret of the sauce (see alt text). I would be so happy to have this skill and I hope the universe helps me with that 😇

Since 17 years I’m in love with Thai food, specifically due to a dish called „Kai Pad Prik”, which means „stir fried chicken with chilies”. There’s a restaurant chain in the Frankfurt Main area, which serves it called „My Thai”.

It has a sauce, which tastes incredibly well and I’ve tried to recreate it numerous times. In the 2 photos you can see two of my experiment sessions I did to mix different sauces until I had a taste close to it.

I came close, but couldn’t nail it.

When I made my meal plan earlier this week I was thinking we were going to eat this Greek style dish on a sunny summer’s day, not on a grey and rainy jet stream dominated day like today. At least it’s not overly windy. (The nice weather was yesterday and we used it to be out and about in the forest on a nearby hill.)

Anyway, this is nothing new: we had marinated fried salmon fillets with a salsa style Greek salad, today with rice for me as we didn’t have enough potatoes left for three portions of the potato wedges that we normally eat with this.

The freezer at the Burlington food shelf was unhappy yesterday so staff discarded four pounds of ground meat. I decided it wasn't spoiled and took it.

The Hinesburg food shelf discarded expired stovetop stuffing mix. It's fine. They had too many duck egg donations (not popular) so they gave me some. There was a can of sloppy joe sauce, too damaged to distribute. Mine now.

I would never buy any of these things, but I can smell free meatloaf as well as the next person…
