Damals in der Schulzeit sollte man sich für die 7te Klasse ein Wahlfach aussuchen. Da Technik und Hauswirtschaft nicht mein Ding waren, wählte ich Dänisch an erster Stelle. Dänemark ist gleich nebenan.

Französisch.

Aber es gibt ja #duolingo, und da wählte ich dänisch. Anfangs tat ich mich schwer, heute habe ich einen großen Schritt erreicht!

Am I the only one who’s found #Duolingo increasingly frustrating lately? Since around February or March, the quality seems to have dropped significantly. I feel like I’m no longer learning anything meaningful — just going through odd, abstract sentences with little real-life use. Maybe this is due to the shift to #AI and firing human translators. I just cancelled my subscription — despite a 400+ day streak and the app’s relentless push notifications

I do not like this! #Duolingo has changed their interface slightly and there’s no longer a button to report issues with an exercise, or to save the exercise as a photo, or share it with a friend.

just uninstalled #duolingo. the course quality really went down since the AI fiasco

also they really don't bother teaching nuances like how Japanese uses "Han" to mean "half", but the classes were about time, so instead teaching it properly, it just says it means "thirty", which is very incorrect

Did you know the person who created #Recaptcha, you know that tool that uses humans from all over the world to train AI by clicking on images etc

Well, that same dude also created #Duolingo with a base purpose to let people translate and sell those translation or as a service

Currently Duolingo is embracing the AI slop big time and a lot of their users are deleting their accounts

At the end of the day, everything Luis von Ahn touches has only 1 end goal..

My Instagram is currently FLOODED with ads of language learning apps using LLMs to generate content and interactions with people. Seeing that and remembering how over the last couple of years #duolingo gave up everything that it could now use to differentiate from the crowd and burned most of the goodwill it had ever accumulated in the community — I’m annoyed and sorry about the loss BUT ALSO hah, screw you von Anh. You built something good at one time and then deliberately destroyed it.

I've been a Duolingo user since 2013. You can track the enshittification of the product since they went public.

Enshittification is now complete, with humans being replaced by AI. This act of mine is my way of avoiding being treated like a wallet while you mistreat others.
