Today’s studio: Burleigh Murray State Park, the Mills Dairy Barn, the only known bank barn (built into the hillside) in California. 1889. The family donated the property to the state in 1979 and it remains largely unimproved except for the ranch road, supports for the barn, and a few picnic tables. Did a quick little (2.5 x 3.5 in) #watercolor.

While I was there I was surrounded by birdsong. Lots of California quail. Black-headed grosbeak. Downy woodpecker. Steller’s jay. Northern flicker. Yellow-rumped warbler. Pacific wren. And more more more. I know who because of the Merlin app.

It was a lovely afternoon. I love riding to here.

Lots of spring green grass and some young skinny but tall eucalyptus trees behind it. In the foreground on top of a picnic table are some art supplies and a small watercolor painting. Parked just beyond that is my bike.

Anyone who has ever ridden a bicycle or a motorcycle can tell you stories about theft. Even whole motorcycles weighing hundreds of pounds can be lifted up off the ground and put into the back of a van by a couple of strong guys in seconds, and this is not unheard of as a means of motorcycle theft. It's even easier for #ebikes, obviously. Both are much easier to steal than cars, and need better, more secure parking and storage. Most would prefer indoors.

I agree 1000% with all of this, and I am drooling to get myself an ENVO Veemo #HPV, or even just one of their regular #ebikes, but let me also just say that a Veemo starts at $7000 USD, more expensive than a lot of motorcycles.

But, a real problem for many, if not most, people who might actually be able to use a #bicycle or HPV as daily transportation is the fact that they do not have a suitable place to park or store it—neither at home nor at their destinations.

today I celebrated #vivacallesj

A few time a year we have our San Jose government open the streets up to everyone. Its only about 10km and only for a few hours but thousands of families take full advantage of the open streets.
There is music, dancing and food. The streets are protected from cars and bike, skates, scooters, baby strollers, etc rule.

1,000 of bikes spread across 10km, there is room for everyone.

@meganL I watched this with my wife this morning and we agreed that her balance issues are too great for us to tandem, but I am seriously considering buying the #Lectric long-range XP LIte for myself. The step-thru XP 3.0 feels like it would be preferable because I haven't used a single-gear bike since I was 8 years old, but the 21-pound difference in weight means a lot to me.

Have you used either of them?
