Nice and easy to just shift everything. And <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Vivaldi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vivaldi</span></a>’s just another web browser, so that’s no biggie. The rest, well, it’s fine if you feel like it and the M$ bills are looking steep. But only do stuff if you want - there’s no immediate imperative really. I know they tell us Linux change your life, but I’m old and I do think things get overstated sometimes.</p>

I want to belive that change is coming, but I don't want to wait decades for that utopia.</p><p>What <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/GoogleOne" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GoogleOne</span></a> gives for about 10EUR, European alternatives *still* can't match in 2025.</p><p>What does 24EUR pay for? The latter has to even regenerates thumbnails most of the time and forget light editing in its apps.</p><p>The worst is Proton Drive, though, because files-on-demand turns into files-in-5-to-10-business-days, which isn't great when you want to work with multiple files.</p><p>And don't get me started on storage space. Both companies' services don't give me 2TB in total, which I pretty much I can have on Google One right now for a fraction of the price.</p><p>Working with files requires reliability and speed. European companies make this a luxury just to disappoint you. As much as I tried to get away from <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Google</span></a>, I can't tolerate to be screwed over for the money that I worked for.</p><p>Efficiency is important to me, so let's get back to this when <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/EUtech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EUtech</span></a> won't be the "vegan" solution.</p>

Hmm...
IDK why they didn't write about it, but just look at the article's image:
It shows two alternatives: @ente and #Immich. I would recommend #Ente over #Immich. It is a great software, I also use it. Its image editing capabilities are not as advanced as #GooglePhotos', but they are improving them too. It has good #AI features, if you are interested in them, and is fast and reliable. Plus affordable too (its #freemium)

I've been comparing exported photos from darktable, with my mobile device. Imported jpg output into ente.

My curiosity was to see why the mobile device photos look better on the smaller screen, whereas my Nikon D800E photos remained "uninspiring".

Mobile photos bump up the saturation, contrast, and sharpening, about 20%. Then increase the warmth. That seems to give the photos more structure.

So if I go on a trip somewhere, i'll bring both!
