I have completed my first #embroidery project. My wife got me this for my birthday because I wanted to learn some basic stitches to use for mending. The shop was going out of business so there were several sets on sale, and this one had a good variety of stitches (satin, back, lazy daisy, and double-wrapped French knot). I freehanded my initials, and I think they turned out okay.

#Knitting magazine as investment?

Saw this magazine yesterday and noticed, that it's now 4 times the original prize

I couldn't find out, when this originally came out but going by the title and models inside I think it's from the 1950ies

I liked the title model, but didn't get the mag because working from a vintage pattern is difficult enough. Working from one where you don't speak the language doesn't make this easier. And automated translation - bad idea.

We're usually there for 2 hours.

Craft Club is meant to be a chill space - I ask that you not bring up politics. I want people to be able to talk about their personal lives and experiences, but this is a time to not dwell upon the horrors.

I set up my new Daedalus Starling espinner and have been using it for the last 2 days. It took me a bit to figure out some of the quirks, like how to set up the tensioning, thread the leader, align the bobbin versus the motor and the front piece, and use the guides appropriately. Using it is a joy so far - fast, smooth, and enjoyable. I chose Shaniko for my first spin on her and it’s going well. #HandSpinning #FiberArts

Thrift store find today.

Anybody know, what brand those are? It's two different sizes, without measuring probably 2 mm and 2.5 mm, the spiral pattern on the thinner ones is "denser", they are metal and rather heavy, 20 cm and the pattern starts about 2 cm being the tips.

I bought them out of curiosity, at 20 cm they are longer than I prefer my DPN's but I've never seen needle like that...

My Masterplan is to make more Shroomies in a Rainbow of colors. Little Yellow Hat here saw me using SC yarn under and me realizing that there are better decrease techniques than the one I used so far. I finally got the amount of stuffing in the cap right. Also, sewing has improved.
As much as I'm itching to make more, I should probably work on a different project to give my hands some rest....

So, my grandmother used to crochet around styrofoam balls to make shapes. I'm thinking the same crochet method could be adapted around a more solid object (let's say a golf ball), and then the chain made long enough to create a #bolas (attaching more crocheted balls). Of course, one would want to use something stronger than yarn... Not quite sure what would work best (hemp fibers?)...
