While this is a UK investigation, I regularly see farmed fish, esp branzino (a Mediterranean sea bass) from overseas in US markets - Even in coastal areas, where I can get excellent local fish. Why? Yes, it's cheaper. And why shouldn't we have cheap good food? Maybe because the low price doesn't reflect the actual costs. Pity a sustainability labeling folks don't look at a total impacts. Another area of market failure.

Reading this is infuriating. Seemingly fish farming is misunderstood and the high deaths are because of climate change (Icve heard this from colleague whose husband is in the fish farming industry) which means that jellyfish and algal blooms increase mortality.

Which sounds increasingly like fish farming in Scotland is decrasing in viability. So we maybe shouldn't be going so hard at farming fish? Like reduce the densities of fish and farms...
