So after yesterdays emergency #joomla security update, today planned time to pick up any pieces... Looking at what has changed, I do not expect any issues so will enjoy my coffee a little bit more today :)
Have you updated all your (client) sites already? Any issues encountered?
Going to push some extension updates in a minute, #Joomla is doing a new release (security) today and experience learns that most website maintainers take that opportunity to also update their extensions... Note sure if that is a good strategy, but it is what I see happening.
What do you think: good or not good updating your extensions while updating Joomla itself?

Prepping for tomorrows #joomla security release. No time to test as we don't know what changed in this release, so rolling up sleeves and be prepared when installing. What I heard this could be a big one (not in terms of changes, but in terms of exploits).
In the meantime working on some new ideas, and still sitting on the idea of doing short video's #procrastinating #nottokeenonthespotlight
What are you up to today, love to hear it!
Just did a small bugfix in #kunena, I love how welcoming this project is to 'outsiders' committing PR's: they look at the code and decide if they accept or not. Not all open source project I (try to) work with do this the same. Some look at the person instead of the code, or decide not to use the PR because 'I do not have an issue'...
It is sometimes hard to contribute to Open Source, but then I also know from experience that it is sometimes hard to be a maintainer.

This morning discussed what I would do when I retire... I would do what I do now. The moment you realize how fortunate you are.
Love my job!
What would you do when you retire?
Having worked on ochFoundation5 the last two weeks, my mind is 'bursting' with things I would love to add to it to make it even more feature complete. But I can only spend my time once.
I find it personally hard to stop improving when there is no direct need from customers to improve.
At what point do you say it is good enough?
Do you recognize this? How do you handle it / do you have advice?
Taking some time for the 'afterparty' af ter yesterdays release of the new major version of ochFoundation5 (yes, 50% coupon is still valid: https://onlinecommunityhub.nl/och-click-this/ochfoundation5/mastodon). And for those who say Mastodon has no 'reach', been tracking my 'campaign' on linkedin, facebook, bluesky and here on mastodon: mastodon turns out to be the one with the most visitors #JustSoYouKnow
Think today is a good time to fiddle with #DietPi never a dull moment

I'm going to create short video howtos for my extensions, so installed OBSproject: amazing! Will take some time to get that sorted out. In the meantime been looking for a platform to provide these videos with: YouTube is a no-go, dove into PeerTube but was overwhelmed by the choice in platforms, and then I learned that Nextcloud (which I use myself) is the perfect platform for this. Now adding support for the <video> element to ochFitvids: one thing leads to another #Joomla #JoomlaDevelopment
Back to the challenge of dealing with a slow API that provides stock rates. fetching all stocks needed sometimes takes over 20 minutes. The supplier isn't going to fix their response times so we need to refactor on our end. Maybe split op the fetching to do them in parallel instead of sequential, I don't think that in the end this will make a huge difference... #joomla #JoomlaDevelopment #LifeOfaDeveloper
How do you deal with external services acting up?
Back after a roadtrip to visit some properties in France. Lot's of information and impressions to process. Alrhough this week is springbreak, will be doing some work to get my mind off things: that normally helps. So to-do list: here I come
