#Journal of a slightly better Dutch Pixy
(Tuesday, 15/07/2025).
It was a wee bit better night. But I was also a bit emotional, as today, it should have been Arwen's 12th birthday. Now, I was just reminded that she, unfortunately, didn't make it this far, and that it had been 11 days since I had to say goodbye to her.
During one of the moments where I was awake and a wee bit sobbing, I placed a kiss on my fingers and then touched her urn with them. I talked to her for a bit, before I was able to dry my tears and try to get some more sleep again.
I got up in the morning and this time I was awake when bestie called me. It turned out that she was going for a run before she was heading to her work, so she "took me along" for a 13k run. We chatted a lot, and got interrupted by the wind every now and then. I set everything ready for breakfast and I ate mine. When mum came down, she was able to have hers as well.
When we were ready, we headed to Nijmegen. Mum had to do a few things at home. We walked with Bas, and then we headed to the store. And ow my, the store was filled with egocentric asshats today! Trying to get through with crutches was a big challenge, as people just didn't care that they cut you off, blocked you with their cart, or that you were really waiting for them to move, so that you could get what you need. I had to control my urges a few times, as I really wanted to use those crutches to smash some people to the side. Ugh...
Das was complaining a bit about Bas being annoying with him. But yeah, dad doesn't stick to the routine, dad doesn't walk with him, he just does his thing and cares for Bas when it suits him. So when dad suggested that Bas may enjoy some more time with mum and me, we both thought it would be best for Bas. Of course, I was hoping that Bas would choose to snuggle up with me again during the nights.
We took the groceries and Bas home. I walked a very short round with Bas, while mum was busy with the groceries. Then, we relaxed a bit. The shortamas that I ordered for mum and me should arrive this afternoon. When they had come, mum and I walked with Bas. Then we made some food, before I decided to try the shortama out.
Mum and I finished the 3rd season of the White Lotus, and we started another series. But mum was very tired, as was I, so she took out Bas and then we got ready for bed.
The first bit, Bas slept in the dog bed. Then I got up for the loo, and when I got back, he was on the bed, waiting for me. And, I was very fortunate, as he decided to cuddle with me and the snuggle up with me. Every time I woke up to visit the loo, or to change my position, he just waited for me to be OK again, before he made sure to snuggle up again with me. And I don't know if it was because I was so exhausted, or that I finally found some positions that I was a bit comfortable in, or that Bas was just the cutest snugglebug... But in the end, I got some decent sleep, and my watch told me, all together, I got almost 9 hours in. I felt a bit foggy when I finally woke up, but also a bit more relaxed... Ready to start a new day...
