"President Donald #Trump has nominated oil and gas advocate #KathleenSgamma to lead the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management, the agency tasked with managing millions of acres of public lands and waters for the benefit of all Americans.
"The nomination of Sgamma, who heads a Denver-based oil and gas industry trade group called the #WesternEnergyAlliance, heralds a seismic shift in the management of roughly 245 million acres of public property — about one-tenth of the nation’s land mass.
"If confirmed by the Senate, she would be a key architect of Trump’s #DrillBabyDrill agenda alongside Interior Secretary and '#EnergyCzar' #DougBurgum. An MIT graduate who previously worked in consulting, she has advocated for the BLM to prioritize oil and gas drilling, #HardrockMining and #livestock grazing on public lands nationwide.
"A spokesman for Sgamma did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
"During his first term, Trump tapped conservative lawyer William Perry Pendley to lead the BLM on an acting basis. But Trump never nominated Pendley, a vocal advocate of selling off public lands, to helm the agency on a permanent basis, prompting a rebuke from a federal judge.
"President Joe Biden in 2021 chose Tracy Stone-Manning, a prominent Montana-based #environmentalist, to lead the BLM. Earlier in her career, Stone-Manning worked on conservation policy at the #NationalWildlifeFederation and led Montana’s Department of Environmental Quality.
"Under Biden, the BLM finalized a landmark rule that sought to put conservation, #recreation and #RenewableEnergy development on equal footing with #ResourceExtraction on public lands. Sgamma’s Western Energy Alliance filed a lawsuit challenging that rule, which the Trump administration is expected to overturn.
"In an interview with The Washington Post in April, Sgamma criticized the regulation for allowing ranchers, renewable-energy developers and other interests to lease federal lands for the purpose of #conservation and #HabitatRestoration.
"We have no choice but to litigate,' she said. 'These conservation leases seem to be designed to preclude energy development on federal lands.'
#Environmentalists criticized #Sgamma’s nomination.
"'This choice shows that the new administration will leave no favor ungranted for the oil and gas industry and the wealthy #FossilFuel #executives who funded Trump’s campaign,' #AlanZibel, oil and gas research director with the liberal advocacy group #PublicCitizen, said in an email.
"#JeffEshelman, president and #CEO of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, which represents small oil producers, praised Sgamma’s selection while critiquing the Biden administration."

"In a follow-up Instagram Story, Cain added that she was 'not trying to be reactionary,' but sharing her own opinion.

Fuck capitalism. There is enough for everyone to be sheltered, fed, and have access to the means of comfortable healthy lives.
But greed means we do work for murderers and beg for handouts.
We all should stop being complicit, and start sharing with and working with humanity. Quietly avoiding or slowing any activity that produces profit. Quietly supporting our own community and those within reach. Quietly because our actions are more effective when we aren't defending them from capitalist attention. Quietly because loudly is just courting arrest for publicity that no longer brings anything good.
Quietly because a human safety net relies in part on people still on the inside, doing what they can to help us and hinder capitalists.
Enough of us doing this would allow us to reshape society as necessary to drive capitalism to extinction.

@apollon if you live in a place where cars and trucks are the only means of transportation, this will make more sense. Here, #capitalism relies on Workers in Cars getting to Work on Time, Deliveries in trucks that clog our streets and train nazis via rightwing talk radio, and Tourists driving to Airports to Fly around and look at other people's homeplaces and make it impossibly expensive for locals to continue to Live in their own communities anymore.
We won't get to have mass transit or safe biking and walking or affordable homes until we #KillCapitalism
And that starts by taking its legs out from under it so it's closer to the ground.

It's not that hard.
Little stuff, every day!
Like, slowing traffic by making sure you stay just below the speed limit (that's obvs, limit means fastest you should go in the best circumstances. It's rarely the best to drive fast.)
Driving more slowly slows capitalism, physically. Also, makes it easier for humans and other critters to safely navigate our shared streets.
Be more purposeful in the check out line - those clerks are paid by the hour and overworked as it is. Better to give them kindness and help reduce the inhuman pace they're expected to keep. Did you know (I worked as a check out clerk and grocery stocker for a few years) a LOT of clerks LOVE needing to close their register for a second when they get a moment, so they can walk around the store putting back items you didn't need after all. Just sayin.
And for those of us who are in a different situation that means we need to still earn SOME wages to supplement our tiny social security checks --we have discovered the labor market needs us more than we need them. And no, it no longer matters that you work lots of jobs for shorter terms.
Big companies spend a lot of money hiring and training. A few of them actually spend weeks to months training you before you even take to the floor (credit card call centers I'm looking at you!)
Returns with receipt require labor and usually result in items returned being marked down or discarded. Bummer, but in the big picture it's going to happen at the end of its brief useability and this way the corporation makes no profit from the item. All loss.

I just want the remaining Democrats in office to just regularly and loudly acknowledge the rapey white supremacist culture of the GOP, acknowledge the GOP now has the gun power to annoint whoever they like, and just use what's left of the dissenting voice to state again and again that trumpism is obviously fascism. Then, they live that story until the whole thing collapses or we somehow against all odds #KillCapitalism and make it possible to reconfigure our government to represent the actual good of the people of the entire planet.
It's a better goal than just curling up and dying, so I'm seriously going to angle for that.

Half the population wanted to stop them, but not badly enough to risk their finances or their dreams of future savings.
The capitalist money took 2 opposing positions, pitted us against each other, then went back to making ever more money, even before the dust settled.
