#lovelanguage

I don't know how many of you remember the concept of the #LoveLanguage? I was all the rage when I was growing up, but it's been a long time since I heard the term.

If you're not familiar, it talks about how different people prefer to experience and express #love in different ways. Some like to compliment and be complimented. Others like it when people do stuff for them without being asked (like taking out the rubbish or washing the dishes), and show their love by doing the same. Others like to get surprised with flowers or other gifts...

My love language is touch. When I was much younger, I found touch kind of awkward. I didn't like hugs because they made me feel like I want to cry. But these days, I'm I a huggy person. I need hugs. I need hand holding. I need little brushes on my arm or gently running your hand down my back.

I'm physically affectionate. If I love you, I want to always be near you. I want to be hugging you and holding on to you and snuggling up to you.

But the whole point of the love language is that *your* love language may not be the same as *their* love language, and you need to learn theirs so that you can show your love and devotion to them in the way they're most likely to appreciate.

It's not about you. :-)
